The Millington Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) has an opening for an Endocrinologist that offers a dual academic appointment with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). The CBOC is a part of the Department of Veterans Affairs and falls under the Memphis VA Medical Center. It’s one of the largest of twelve community-based clinics within the Memphis VA clinical network.
The Memphis VA is a 1a complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system located in one of the fastest growing Veteran population regions in the United States. The main campus provides comprehensive care to almost 69,000 Veterans in a 52-county area of Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs. Comprehensive primary, secondary, and tertiary health care is provided in vast areas of medicine, to include but not limited to cardiology, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncology, rheumatology, geriatrics, women’s health, and dentistry.
Duties include, but not limited to:
Age-specific care, including knowledge of changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric age groups: ability to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status; and ability to identify age-specific needs and provide the appropriate care based upon the age-related factors noted.
Provide consultation on various forms of endocrine disease states, both for diagnosis and treatment in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Clinical practice, supervising and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students in the specialties of Endocrinology/Diabetic Medicine.
Expected to share attending call responsibilities with other endocrinologists in covering some nights, weekends and holiday calls as needed. Round with teams of fellow(s), resident(s), and medical student(s) as regards to inpatient settings.
Clinical assessment and evaluation, healthcare management of assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses; ordering and interpreting labs, diagnostic studies, consultations, referrals, patient follow-up, health promotion, disease prevention, clinical research, and patient/family/staff education and counseling.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm with occasional call

Residency/Fellowship: Endocrinology
BE/BC in Endocrinology
Full and unrestricted license from ANY state
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Be proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language.
